Unplasticised polyvinyl chloride.
UPVC is a thermoplastic material that has a good acid and alkali resistance.
It is good as a flame retardant, good vapor barrier and has good UV resistance.
UPVC is widely used in the building industry in both Europe and the USA. The largest percentage of windows and doors are made from UPVC this material dominates the market, here in Australia we are just starting to be aware of double glazed windows and doors and the massive advantages.
UPVC is by far the best material for frames.
The alternatives are wood and Aluminum. Wood is a good insulator but it requires us to chop down trees and is very high in maintenance.
Aluminum is a metal and as such is a good conductor of both heat and cold. UPVC has very high thermal properties windows made from this material are considered to be the most efficient available.
UPVC is recyclable this material can be used in many applications.
